As the decade draws to a close I’ve been thinking about what the next ten years hold, not just for me but for our swimmers and the team. I’ve set myself some pretty hairy audacious goals for the next few years with some smaller gains sprinkled in along the way. Next year I’m hoping to build on my endurance and distance, as well as work on my form strokes. What about you? Have you thought about the coming year or decade and what your swimming focus will be? We’d love to hear what you have in mind and how we can help you.

This week sees us say farewell to Coach Bart as he moves on to his new life in Canberra. I know I speak for many of our swimmers in saying we wish him well and thank him for all his great coaching programs over the years. You’ll be sorely missed, Bart!

As I mentioned in the last newsletter Coaches Christina and Charm will be taking over the Tuesday squad sessions at Victoria Park Pool. Charm will be coaching all the sessions in January and then they will be alternating the sessions from February onwards. We are still finalising the coaching for the Friday and Sunday sessions and I should have some news in the New Year.

The inaugural Masters Swimming NSW Women Only Twilight Meet was unfortunately cancelled the week prior to the event. It will be rescheduled to later in 2020. A big thank you to those of you who showed interest in participating.

Just a reminder, we’re taking a break for the Festive Season so there’s no squad sessions for the next couple of weeks. Tomorrow is the last session for the year, definitely one not to be missed! It’s sure to be fun. Squad training will start back on Tuesday, 7th January at Victoria Park and Wednesday, 8th January at Drummoyne.

The coaches and I have been keeping track of everyone’s kms for the December Challenge. The results will be announced after tomorrow’s sessions with the details in the very final newsletter for 2020.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support throughout the year. It is all of you who make Sydney Swimmers the friendly and welcoming squad it is!

I hope you have a great holiday. The team and I wish you and yours all the very best for the Festive Season.
