We’re super excited to have so many swimmers heading into the holiday period having realised their goals. In fact on top of our 50m Club and 25m Club we’ve added a new category in this newsletter, the Bronze Medallion Club. Yes, we’ve had a number of swimmers come to us to assist them with their preparation for the 400m swim under 9 minutes. It’s no mean feat! Well done to all those who’ve passed and graduated as lifesavers.
I’m also delighted to let you know The Garie Vanguard surf lifesaving training program concluded last weekend and Garie Surf Life Saving Club now has ten new lifesavers! A fantastic effort by the participants and trainers. Congratulations to everyone involved.
What a torrid time it has been for many in NSW, fighting the fires. Sydney has been covered for a number of days with smoke haze, which has produced an eerie light, red suns and poor air quality at times. Thankfully we’ve been able to continue our classes at outdoor pools throughout this period. We will run classes unless the air quality is such that it is unsafe or we are advised to do otherwise. If you have a any concerns please call the office on 0431571161. Hopefully the fires will be extinguished very soon.
Like many of you, we’re taking a holiday too. We will be closed from Saturday, 21st December (no classes) and returning on Monday 6th January, classes starting at Prince Alfred Park Pool that evening. If you’re keen to kick your goals in 2020, there are a number of our team available during this period for private lessons. Details are set out in the newsletter below.
Finally, we normally get a rush of enquiries and bookings in the New Year. If you’re keen on your class time and instructor, it’s best to book your classes in now. Come January many primetime classes and slots become booked out.
I hope to see many of you poolside before we break for the holidays. If I miss you, the team and I wish you and your families all the best for the Festive Season and 2020. Thank you for all your support throughout the year I look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
As always, yours in swimming,
