Hi Everyone,

It’s great to be back at Victoria Park Pool and training again. I have to admit it is hard after 20 weeks away from a structured squad program, although it has to be said …it is good to be back in the saddle. I’m super impressed with those who’ve returned on these cold, dark mornings. What can I say, pure dedication!

I’m delighted to welcome the new swimmers to our squad – Anisa, Martin and Elif. It is fantastic to have you with us. You have arrived at the perfect time as everyone gradually returns to training.

We can take up to 12 swimmers per lane with a maximum of 18 per session. However with cooler temperatures and the mornings still dark, we currently have plenty of spots available. As you’ll see further down in the newsletter, we have a number of new protocols, one of which is the requirement for you to book into a session prior to arriving at the pool. Please make sure you read all the new procedures we’ve created to keep you, our team and other swimmers safe.

Our Open Water Training Program has been running right through winter, with a hard core group of swimmers. Peta, our Open Water Coach has been thrilled by the progress of the group and to see them return week after week, even on the coldest days. They are such stars!

Our 6 Week Virtual Training Plan is still available for those who would like to continue swimming on their own or supplement the squad sessions. The details can be found below.

To assist swimmers returning who may be feeling a bit anxious about their abilities and performance in the water, I’m delighted to announce the launch of our new three step Goal Setting Program. If you’ve found your swimming has plateaued or slid back during COVID-19 (and let’s be honest, whose hasn’t) and you want to get your swimming back on track, take a look at the details below in the newsletter.

I look forward to seeing you back on pool deck.

As always in swimming,

Kari Baynes
Director
