The second Navitas English for Swimming Program concluded last week with a swim at Bronte Beach. Swimmers swam across the rock pool, marvelled at the fish beneath them and then went on to brave the waves, with some becoming adept at catching the odd one in! This program has been a great success with all swimmers feeling more confident in the water, some swimming 15 – 20m and many now even diving into the deep end of the pool. It has been a great partnership between Different Strokes Swimming and Navitas. My heartfelt thanks to Michelle Cowans, without whom this project simply would not exist.

We’ve recently been experiencing some glitches with the MindBody app which has resulted in some people’s class packs not registering when they have attended a class, resulting in swimmers taking classes which in fact are unpaid. We have worked tirelessly over the past few days to clean up the accounts involved and we are working with MindBody to resolve the issue. Please let us know if you see an anomaly which you don’t understand on your account.

At the end of April, Drummoyne and Cabarita Swimming Centres will be closing for winter. They will reopen on the first of September for the next summer season. We will carry on running classes throughout winter at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre and Cook and Phillip, both indoor pools, as well as Auburn Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre, Prince Alfred Park and Victoria Park pools. Where possible we’ve already started to move our Beginner and Beginner 1 classes to the indoor pools in preparation for winter. There are still plenty of options to keep swimming in the colder months, ensuring you’ll be ready for summer. Take a look online at MindBody to see the updated timetable.

As always, happy swimming.
